@ryb yah. I used to prune all the background and startup tasks and sevices in Windows XP/2000 etc. Having programs running feels like it's mental space, too. Little dot indicators and things. Is it running? Shows up in two places. Bleh.

@ryb I don't like the way Windows and Ubuntu by default collapse multiple windows from the same program, or multiple instances of the same program, into single icons. Windows 2000 was my favorite. MATE and Cinnamon are my comfort zone.
