@Kabuku Or: why sell when you can just buy more as the price goes down?

@Kabuku Same here. For years I have run what I jokingly call a “home for no longer wanted consumer electronics”. 🤣

Not that I have gotten that many donations, but that’s besides the point!

@Kabuku Whenever I hear about people leaving stuff on the curb or in the front lawn, it’s just so foreign to me. Always had to go to a recycling center or second hand store.

I have found both CPU and RAM at recycling stations though… 😇

@Kabuku Unfortunately, it’s legally dubious to acquire thing from those places around here. As I understand it, bribing the staff could be the way to go.

@Kabuku I’d answer that when asked. In a heartbeat! 🤣

@Kabuku For sure! Clubbing seals, urinating on homeless people, and inciting genocide are all quite a lot more horrible of a pastime.

@Streakmachine @Kabuku It is shameful what goes to the landfill ...and costly in the long run. Our county-wide recycling program can't deal with the liabilities of a "swap table" but FreeCycle keeps some goods out of the dump.

@Kabuku @Streakmachine I once chaired the Tompkins County Waste Reduction committee. This committee was typical of our constituency in being redundant: we have hyperlocal Buy-Nothing FB groups, REUSE centers. 66% of households compost food scraps.

@Streakmachine @Kabuku At the "swap table" at the transfer station of the town where I lived, I got a working desktop machine from which the Psych/Nurse/Social Worker had not wiped the client SSNs! One man's trash is another's treasure.
