I just found out about linux copy-paste with mouse buffer. It's independent from copy-paste with Ctrl+C Ctrl+V.
Middle-mouse-button click pastes whatever text was last selected.

You could always map left+right to be the middle. That's the way I did it back in the day.

For Windows there were always little tools for fixing things like this, like
