@ericd That’s good. 10.13 wouldn’t run on mine — it died half way through the attempt to install, and wouldn’t run High Sierra or go back to SIerra. It took me days to get it back to life.
@Indigo From what I've seen, Mojave will be much better and much more stable than High Sierra. But in your case… maybe it's better to keep it the MBP in its current running state and not change anything.
@Indigo Ah, yes, indeed. Mojave starts at mid-2012 for MBPs. Sierra works rather well anyway. I think you can continue use it for a long time. Old systems are good. I have a production machine on 10.6 Snow Leopard. Still an awesome machine/OS! :)
@ericd The sick battery is likely to be what limits the life of the machine in the end. I bought a replacement one, but the MBP kept crashing until I put the old one back. I might have to just run it without a battery in the end.
@Indigo My 2012 MBP is always plugged. I've changed the battery twice but it still doesn't hold up more than 30 minutes anyway. Something in the machine has decided that the battery was not enough anymore…
@ericd really? Mine is just 2 years younger and runs almost as long as in the beginning. 4 years old, going strong :) Maybe because it’s *not* “always plugged”. I heard continuous trickle charging is bad for the batteries. /@Indigo
@unixb0y I’ve always used Fruit Juice to make sure it’s not always plugged in. This is the second battery (the third one is in a box in the cupboard because it didn‘t work). @ericd
