@Streakmachine I found out that my dad wrote his own ESC/POS driver for the ImageWriter back in the 80s so I might pick one up & try to make it work with the GameBoy πŸ˜‚

Merry Christmas everybody! πŸŽ„πŸŽπŸΎπŸ₯³

@33MHz Yeahh I think that I used some code from there as inspiration. :))

cookie jar (i)
@33MHz There is no dedicated monitor for it, but it has RF and Composite output. :) Only 40-columns but I'm getting a pretty good picture, rather happy with it!

@33MHz It comes with a super basic OS that cannot do anything but load binaries from an "Internet Adapter" (it was a separate box) and execute that.
There is a CloudCPM for NABU already, though. Inside there you can write NABU software, *on* NABU.
1218617
@33MHz Long-term, I want 2 ESP32S3-based "adaptors": one with internet access that pulls software from the cloud ("as it was intended") and the other one that makes it a boring old offline computer that executes code from an SD card. ;)
1218615
@33MHz Right now I'm trying to port someone's Raspberry Pi Pico software to an ESP32-S3 so that it can act as the internet adapter for NABU.
It just doesn't feel right having a MacBook sitting there just to serve a 64K binary to NABU. xD
1218612
@33MHz I'm not at the stage of writing my software for it, yet. :D
So far I've replaced the PSU and fan (both were running on 110V) and got it up & running using the existing software for it.
Then I've made my own RS422 to serial & USB adapter.

@33MHz yessir! visiting NYC soon for a week though. πŸ˜‰
also hacking on a #nabu pc right now if you know that machine... :)

@33MHz just 2 weeks 😊

@33MHz Hey there, thanks for the ping! 😊 I'm in a subway in SF right now. πŸ˜„
All is good, I finished my studies and started PhD in IT security. Working on low-level / hardware security subjects at the moment.

@33MHz that makes a lot of sense, i rarely have that issue but when i do, i need to switch to a "vanilla" browser (in my case safari). will then try profiles for such cases.
1165534
@33MHz oh yes that actually works. So if I keep the button pressed while unplugging the wall adapter, it stays on (a bit dimly). Then releasing it makes it stay on.
But in the case of a power outage, there's nobody to keep that button right xD
1165533
@33MHz if i click the test button the light gets dimmer. is it normal? i assumed that this could be because in that moment it switches to battery power.
1165529
maybe @33MHz know this πŸ˜‚
1165526
@33MHz that allows me e.g. to have no Amazon cookies in my normal container, only in the "shopping" container where it cannot access my social media cookies for instance.
1165522
@33MHz Firefox profiles? πŸ€” Never heard of that. I use containers all the time. Will definitely have a look. I use it in part for cookie isolation.
