Is it legal for your *only* phone to be an internet (VoIP) phone? In this house, nobody can call out when power and/or internet is out because we only have a VoIP phone. Our phone does not work now because our internet is out.

@hybotics I have a landline through Xfinity and I believe it is technically voice over internet. Is there at least a physical phone in the house, or is it a phone number accessed through a computer?

@thedoctor Our current phone plugs into the modem or router. I forget which.
