@33MHz It is an adventure. If I survive the snow (9+ months out of the year), I have a blast with my students building battle bots and programming the attacking carnage. (students seem to love destroying things)
@33MHz Still have the boat (anyone want to buy it?) But right now, I'm living and working on a Native American Reservation in North Dakota as a Computer Science and Robotics high school teacher.
Typical Morning... Me wondering if I have the power to win the struggle against my alarm... because eventually it will shut off and I don't want to move to go turn it off early. #fightthegoodfight
BTW - If you love chess and love studying opening theory, you might have some fun with this "Wordle" clone that has you guessing the opening few moves of a chess game. #chess
@Kabuku Really funny watching people complain about their hatred of Twitter now... ON Twitter... while interacting with people ON Twitter... then sticking around ON Twitter to see if people respond to their rants.
@joe I like the concept of the framework laptop, but unless there is a large adoption I feel it will be dead soon after arrival. A few years ago several cell phone makers went the "modular" phone route with swappable parts and they died quickly.
@kyle Yes, I used solar panels to charge. (I hook into my regular solar panels for the recharge) and store the Yeti inside.... so not much exposure to the outside. (I've been in a 43foot Bluewater houseboat.)
Spec'ing out a new system: 10th gen i9-10900K (10core-20thread/20MBcache) with 128GB Quad-channel DDR4 (3200MHz), 17.3" 4K matte display, RTX 2080 Super (3072 CUDA cores), 8TB NVMe (3300/2900 R/W) + additional 18TB drives. Only cost $12k for the laptop.
Quick update. Boat life if awesome. We are still floating above the water. Morning coffee on deck is amazingly refreshing. Just wish there were better internet options for boat life.
While we've been living on our boat (while I've been doing carpentry and electrical work to get it where we want), November 1st is the final day we will have a land-based residence. We will be 100% on our boat. It's been a long road getting here.
