@der_Jeff@runeranch Corporations like Adobe and Microsoft are surely the standards of this rent only trend although I don’t like it personally no doubt, the market that they created says it’s the way to go. Sad state though. Soon we’ll be feeling fatigued
@der_Jeff@runeranch One more thing: I just wish Apple had allowed upgrade pricing on iOS by now. Otherwise, we would haven’t had these undue devs go to this model after they ignored them for so many years on that.
@Skematica But is this business model really viable for app developers? I know from friends and family that they reject subscriptions. Personally I have enough subscriptions and will not pay monthly for basic app use.
@blumenkraft Is all App development a full time job and does developers expect this? I know nothing about how much time is put into an app such as Drafts. But is there a small amout af greed involved here?
@runeranch greed has noting to do with anything imho. this is economy. it's about the customer/product relation. if there is a product, the maker should get money for the usage of the product. it's that easy in my opinion. @Skematica@der_Jeff
@blumenkraft I have no problem with the devs making money. But to me it's seems like many devs wants to make a living of their apps and force this down on their user's with high subscriptions costs. @der_Jeff@Skematica
@Skematica we will know in a few years if the subscription model is sustainable. i wish it is (because it's good for devs and when it's good for devs i get a great product at the end). we have to let the future decide on this. :)
@Skematica i for one love to have a steady income. i bet i'm not alone with this thought. calculating living costs in short-term time windows is way easier. when i know my monthly income i know what i'm allowed to spend per month.
