"Build your own ISP - cost estimates". Bucket list.

@ryantharp have some suggestions? Too broad a question. 😉

Do I need FCC license for these powerful point-to-point backhaul devices? Or maybe just a license to erect a tall tower. #wisp

@33MHz you don’t need your own. You can buy a mimosa radio or airfiber from ubiquity. Might need even need a high grade one initially. We boot strap off standard customer cpe until we need more bandwidth (because the pop has more customers)

@33MHz I don’t think so. Though not sure. Small sites are off the books until they’re not. Big sites we rent at, handle all that for us. We basically are renting spaces with a bunch of cell companies in our area

@33MHz you need to compete in an area. Wireless is good for an area that isn’t covered yet. Or you talking more like data center?

@ryantharp yeah, there are wild west areas in my city (I'm in one), where historically, say, someone wants high speed Internet, their option is 5Mbps down AT&T for $60/mo.

@ryantharp I have $10/mo for 50Mbps down right now, but that's an interesting fluke I've been able to take advantage of for another year due to COVID + new customer discount.
