the anaemic iOS bump today makes me very bearish on an updated Mac Pro this year. which means I probably won't be buying any new Apple hardware of any stripe for awhile.
@GTWilson and yet, I was getting my folks' new Dell laptop rehabilitated this weekend and I realized that Windows is still incredibly awful (we couldn't find the damn trackpad settings anywhere). and 2017 is still not the Year of the Linux Desktop.
@bayprogrammer that's a blog post, not a reply. tl;dr: consistency about settings and where to find them, better discoverability, and I'm just used to the way the Mac does it.
@bayprogrammer I used to use a Mac but I became disenchanted with the system software after Mavericks and prefer the bleeding edge kernel and GNU tools over BSD.
@GTWilson I'm now actually thinking of how bad it would be if I just bought one of the trashcan Mac Pros and tried to pimp it out. it's gotten that bad.
@sevan I'm trying to forecast. if they issued a bumped Mac Pro with current CPUs, I'd probably consider it, given the long drought they've had on pro systems. I wouldn't get rid of the G5, though, it has too much software on it I need.
