Think of the children!

Refactoring 1,500 lines of code from templates to pure JavaScript… Who knew it was going to be that painful?

@randolph I'm going nuts with this fucking site. It's Node but it reminds me so much of the all-custom-made non-DRY frameworkless PHP3 from the early 2000s.

@remino Early 2000s? Try 2014.

Think of the children!

@randolph Wow. How can a business run on that? Sounds like they're wasting tons of many... like my place.
144338
@remino In my experience (limited, mind you), some* developers stick with what they know and don't want to learn new ways. Then they force that stagnation on new hires. That becomes the corporate culture.

* enough to make a generalization about it

@randolph Well, that inexperienced developer is actually one of the founders of the company. (Thanks, git blame, for telling me this.) And in this Japanese company, nobody will complain against that code.
144341
@remino So you have societal culture feeding a bad corporate culture and now you're stuck with it. Ugh.
144345

Think of the children!

@randolph Yup. And I never meet anyone there in person or on the chat, so that's kinda weird too.

@randolph But hey, they pay. They even renewed my contract. So, it's good, I suppose?
144351
@remino I guess that counts for something. Money to pay for new wardrobe!
