@33MHz def not as mini as the tiny jazz ones I’ve been getting by with, but def qualifies at the sort of length I was doing regularly for #DailyPiano last year. A multi-movement sonata would be way out of bounds.
After nearly 6 music-hours (and 5 calendar-months), this 127th #pianominiature marks the end of #dailypiano. My regular music-sharing will continue, if that's any consolation. In case it's not, here's a Bortkiewicz Consolation: https://youtu.be/hqIewOgtqno
Here’s a #Bortkiewicz Prelude I heard for the first time an hour ago. The essence of #dailypiano. Also an ideal prelude to the next phase of this music-making project, which will look — and, with luck, sound — quite different.
For today’s #dailypiano#pianominiature, if I had more time, I would have played shorter notes. Lots more staccato called for (and notated). #Bortkiewicz Marionetten Op. 54 #4, Tirolerin (~“Tyrolean Lady”).
The marionettes from Bortkiewicz’s Op. 54 are apparently each representing a nation and/or culture, so let’s expect some of the names to have aged poorly. For today’s #dailypiano#pianominiature, #3 is relatively okay.
I know, I know, it’s already been a few #dailypiano weeks of #Bortkiewicz. But I keep finding lovely sets of #pianominiatures to get into. Let’s get into another: the Op. 54 Marionetten, starting with Russisches Bauernmädchen.
To celebrate 5 hours of #dailypiano, here's my favorite #Bortkevych by far — no #pianominiature even if well played, but rarely do we hear his strength and sweetness combine so organically.
Finally a bit more piano time in the morning, so a #pianominiature that’s a bit less mini. For today’s #dailypiano#Bortkiewicz, we open up his four pairs of Lamentations and Consolations. This is the first Lamentation.
For today’s #dailypiano#pianominiature, another quick little one (compared to the usual, which is really saying something). Bortkiewicz Aus Andersens Märchen Op. 30 #2: Die Glocke (“The Bell”).
Yesterday, parents got a live Bortkiewicz show. Today, back to recording. Here’s another #dailypiano#pianominiature from Bortkiewicz’s Aus Andersens Märchen Op. 30, this time #4 Der Engel (“The Angel”). https://youtu.be/WX0oBZnHaO8
Today’s #dailypiano#pianominiature was selected from Grieg’s Lyric Pieces to appeal maximally to my dad’s musical tastes, and was embargoed until he and I could listen to it together — several times. Success!
