Yesterday I sat down to watch Ridley Scott’s “Life in a Day” and started to feel ill halfway through. Maybe the film was *that* mediocre or maybe it was the pulled pork salad I had for dinner. Either way I shut it off and went to bed early. #FilmFriday
From up on Poppy Hill weaves the childhoods of 2 students who fall for each other but soon discover their past is intertwined. Regret, hope and love take center stage in this delightful Studio Ghibli film. I give this one three stars ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ #FilmFriday
Pom Poko, a Studio Ghibli affair, is a look from a raccoons’ perspective on a serious topic. Magic, comedy, and that famous Ghibli animation goodness preserve this film’s enduring charm. I give this one a deserving five ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ #FilmFriday
This week is Adaptation w/Nicolas Cage and Meryl Streep. wild meta-thriller with orchids, a lonely journalist, 2 screenwriters, and a swamp billy-turned-entomologist crossing paths to find what they want in life. I give this story 3 ⭐ ⭐️ ⭐️ #FilmFriday
This week the surrealist film, Mulholland Drive. While David Lynch can be formulaic and strange (just watch Twin Peaks), this film gives us sinister twists and turns but never truly explains the surrealism and mystery. I give this 4 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ #FilmFriday
Kurosawa shines in his last film. A story of a beloved professor’s joys and travails in postwar Japan. A stellar cast and steady stream of inspirational messages come together for an enduring, meaningful movie. I give this one 5 ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ #FilmFriday
This week’s adventure in moving images was Zack Snyder’s first instalment of “Rebel Moon”. Okay but overused storyline and decent casting roster thoroughly ruined by ridiculous over the top action scenes. I give it ⭐️ ⭐️
