Go for physical books or go with DRM-free books with the use a phone or tab with a PDF or MOBI app.
Both of those you mentioned doesn’t allow you to truly keep the books that you buy.

Back in the day, O'Reily let me pick 3 DRM free formats for "Books" I bought. That thumbdrive full of PDFs is still a goldmine though it will die since the updates stopped. Really miss that.
