Some of the proof of not having a queen: See that bulge just right-of-center? The comb comes outward because they're building drone comb; drones are much larger than workers.
And the workers are laying! There is ~5-day-old larva. East hive. #🐝
Laying workers can be hard to come back from. I'm encouraged that it's just on the cusp of the last workers emerging. More newbees were merging while I watched, and there were still some hundreds left not emerged yet.
