Doubt: What should be my next phone?

  • Librem 5
  • F(x)tec Pro1 X
  • BOTH!
  • Why not Zoidberg?

@thrrgilag Hadn't heard of the Pro1 X

@33MHz Yeah their next iteration of keyboard goodness. With your choice of OS no less.

@thrrgilag I can't help feeling like I'm going to unbundle my next phone situation. A PDA, or something. An e-ink pad. I want a 2x3" e-ink pad.

@33MHz James in the all things tech room did that and generally seems happy with it.

@33MHz Kobo has an e-ink tablet now. Or go the Boogie Board Blackboard + Carbon Copy Pen route, I am using that a lot!

@mandy nice, there is a pretty small Boogie Board [myboogieboard.com]. The kobo gets down to 6" tall, but still wide. @thrrgilag

@33MHz yes, however that Boogie Board isn’t compatible with Carbon Copy Pen yet. The smallest would be the note sized Blackboard.

@thrrgilag What's the Prol X anyway? Never heard of it...

@joe See: https://fxtec.com/pro1x Essentially phone with a slide out keyboard and will ship with either Android or Ubuntu Touch installed.

@thrrgilag I preordered the Librem 5 March 21, 2019, and I still don't have it. I think I'm going to cancel my order. I'd consider the Mudita Pure, which I also preordered and maybe ships in November.

@kyle I had briefly considered something like the Mudita but ultimately decided what I want and prefer is to have a Linux smartphone rather than an feature phone.

@thrrgilag evidently SUSE is able to be configured on a phone, now. I haven't tried it yet, though.
