@sloanb Been a crazy couple years having divorced and moved across the country to Tennessee from the Pacific Northwest, but things are...really good, actually.
The dark times [phoneboy.me] in my childhood shaped a lot of decisions in my adult life. Of course, having to confront some adult things well before you’re supposed to will do that to ya.
Loaded OpenWRT on my Belkin RT3200 because their stock firmware decided my WiFi password I used prior to my factory wasn't secure enough with spaces and repeating characters. Not the first time I've used non-stock firmware, but first time on OpenWRT.
At some point, some middle manager at Belkin thought it was perfectly rational to block the use of spaces in a WiFi password. Problem is, earlier version of the firmware allowed it.
Funny, I no longer have space for Belkin or Linksys products in my life.
The one thing I appreciate about Number Portability is not having to talk to anyone at Comcast about cancelling their shitty service. That plus eSIM made switching to Visible…pretty easy, actually.
I have two friends who work at Comcast. One of them even helped me with a business matter in the early part of my divorce. There are competent people there…despite an organization that is largely run by incompetent people.
Comcast decided, despite having excellent credit, that I was a credit risk and wouldn’t let me add a new line for my new Apple Watch. So, in the next day or so, they will have no lines active. I’d take the Internet elsewhere as well if it was an option.
@thrrgilag my Linux machines are mostly using Mint and I’m fairly happy with it. I do have Umbrel installed on an old laptop and a Raspberry Pi that I plan to use for a Bitcoin node at some point…
@33MHz I ordered a new Apple Watch…mostly because my existing one was four years old and I wanted a cellular model. It’ll be interesting to see if I use the double tap feature I saw press mentions of.
